Dr Joel Somerville

Dr Somerville, originally from Northern Ireland, moved to the Highlands after graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in Optometry.  He is a director at Goskirk Pettinger as well as a lecturer and researcher at UHI, holding a Doctorate in Professional Practice.  As well as carrying out eye examinations and contact lens fitting, Joel is an independent prescribing optometrist who is qualified to write NHS and private prescriptions for medications.  He has a higher qualification in glaucoma and has a special interest in overseas eye projects.
