Specialist Ophthalmic Dispensing
This service is provided free of charge with spectacle dispense

Great eye sight does not just mean a great eye test. Having your spectacles expertly measured and fitted is your key to success. We are proud to provide an expert ophthalmic dispensing service to our patients no matter your age.

Make an appointment to see one of our professional dispensing opticians if you would like an in-depth assessment for solutions to your visual needs. Our friendly dispensing opticians can help you find eye wear and choose lenses that reduce thickness and glare, meet the needs of all your activities and will stand out from the crowd.

Specialist dispensing appointments are particularly useful if you are a child, have a high or unusual prescription, have found glasses heavy or uncomfortable in the past, are thinking of varifocals for the first time, or have specific sports or activities you need your glasses for. We can accept prescriptions from other opticians.
Specialist OCT Scanning
£20
The ocular coherence tomographer is becoming an increasingly important element of a comprehensive eye test. The scan is non-invasive, using lights to scan the deeper layers of the back of the eye. Your optometrist will be able to select the best scanning options for your needs, but usually will include a macula and optic nerve (disc) scan. Eye diseases like macular degeneration, macular holes, macular oedema, epiretinal membranes and glaucoma can be detected and monitored much more precisely with an OCT scan. However, a scan is only as good as its interpretation and you can rely on our expert optometrists to advise you fully on the results and follow-up.

OCT scans are useful for all but particularly beneficial for those at higher risk of certain eye conditions. For example, a family history of glaucoma, sudden changes in vision, history of macular degeneration, or diabetes.

Myopia (short-sightedness) is more than an inconvenience and a need for glasses. Myopia increases our risk of numerous eye conditions including retinal detachment, myopic macular degeneration and glaucoma. A great deal of research has gone into when and how it might be possible to slow the progression of myopia in childhood to prevent eye diseases as an adult.

The most successful interventions to date include special myopia control contact lenses and myopia control spectacles for children. If your child is myopic (short-sighted) we will discuss these options with you, and, importantly, monitor whether their condition is progressing. Using our specialist scanner to take accurate measurements of the length of the eyeball, we can help your child through the latest evidence and innovations on myopia.
